A spy in India
The spies of any
country remain invisible to the people of that country. What sacrifices they
make for the country remains unseen. Even after his death, many countries did
not give him any proper honor.
Here we will know
about such a great spy in India. Who was caught due to the stupidity of another
Indian spy in Pakistan, India's arch-enemy. As a result, he spent the rest of
his life in that Pakistani jail through unspeakable torture. However, after his
death the Government of India did not give him any proper honor. Yes, we are
talking about Indian spy Ravindra Kaushik.
Rabindra was born on
April 11, 1952 in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan. He graduated from this city. He
acted in national level drama competition in Lucknow. It was there that he was
spotted by the officers of the Indian intelligence agency "Research and
Analysis Wing" or 'RAW'. It is known that Rabindra was offered to go to
Pakistan and work as a spy for 'RA'. After that, he practiced hard in Delhi for
two years. Besides Urdu, Rabindra was taught the details of Islamic culture.
Being a son of Rajasthan-Punjab border town Ganganagar, he was already fluent
in Punjabi. He is trained in such a way that he can easily blend into the
public life of Pakistan. In 1975, 23-year-old Rabindra arrived in Pakistan via
Dubai and Abu Dhabi. His new identity is Nabi Ahmed Shakir. All documents of
his Indian identity were destroyed.
Later Rabindra alias
Ahmed completed LLB from Karachi University. Appointed in Pakistan Army as a
commissioned officer. In course of time he was promoted to the rank of Major.
Ravindra married Amanat, the daughter of a Pakistani army tailor. They also had
a child. Published in the press, from 1979 to 1983 Rabindra Kaushik sent many
important information to India. The information he sent was very important for
the defense of the country. It is said that he was given the name 'Black Tiger'
by the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs. That was his code name.
In the early
eighties, another spy called Inayat Masiha was sent by 'RAW'. The plan was that
he would contact Rabindra and help him in the work. But allegedly, all the
secrets are lost due to Inayat's stupidity. Inayat was first caught by
Pakistani intelligence. After that he revealed the real identity of Rabindra
Kaushik.
Revealed in the
media, Rabindra Kaushik was subjected to unspeakable torture in the name of
interrogation for two years at a base in Sialkot. He was sentenced to death in
1985. His sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment by the Pakistan High
Court. After that, Rabindra was imprisoned in various cities of Pakistan
including Sialkot, Kot Lakhpat, Mianwali for 16 years. Rabindra Kaushik died in
Multan Central Jail in 2001 after enduring brutal torture for over a decade and
a half. He was suffering from multiple diseases including tuberculosis. Just
two years later, his father died of a heart attack in India. However, Rabindra's
mother Amala Devi was alive till 2006. Until then, the Indian government used
to send a small amount of masohara every month, his family said.
