The oldest hotel in the world
Currently, the world's oldest and still active hotel is located
in Japan. The name of the hotel is 'Nishiyama Onsen Keiyunkan'. The hotel has
been operating since 705 AD at the popular tourist destination near
Mt.Fujiyama. 52 generations of the same family are taking charge of the hotel
successively. The hotel was recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records in
2011 for being the oldest still in operation. This hotel was run by Fujiwara
Mahito 1315 years ago. His father was a close associate of Tenji, the 38th Emperor
of Japan. After its establishment, the successors of the Mahito clan have been
the owners of this hotel.
The main attraction of this ancient hotel is the hot springs.
The hotel's hot water source at the foot of Mount Akaishi in Japan's Hayakawa
in the province is the local Hakuho spring. The hotel has a total of 37 rooms
for guests. A few years ago arrangements were made to supply each room with
separate hot spring water. So that guests can take advantage of 'Hot Spring
Bath' from their own room.
Besides, some other oldest hotels in the world are-
1) Maid's Head Hotel in Norwich, England. The oldest part of the
present hotel was built to the 15th century.
2) Another ancient hotel in England is 'Old Hall Hotel'. It is
in Buxton.
3) Another ancient hotel in Ballventor, England, 'Jamaica Inn'
was started in 1750 AD.
