own Android OS

India's own software version is coming to the market as the
operating system of Android phone. This software is developed by the Indian
Institute of Technology, Chennai (IITMadras) with the support of the Government
of India. This operating system built entirely on indigenous technology is
named 'BharOS'. The first part of the name is Bhar for 'India' and the second
part is the abbreviation OS for Operating System. BharOS has been developed by
a company called JandK Operations with support from IIT Madras.

The difference between BharOS and Google's Android operating
system is not much. This new operating system is based on the Android Open
Source Project or AOSP. However, BharOS has nothing in common with Apple's
operating system.

But the 'BharOS' operating system has some special features
compared to the conventional operating systems. It is not only made in India,
it also has some special freedoms for the customers. Not all applications can
be used on Android phones. App downloads are also restricted in some cases. All
apps have to be downloaded from play store. BharOS will basically bring freedom
in terms of using this app on mobile, claims the makers. On mobiles with this
operating system, there will be no restrictions on using the app. Even the
mobile will not have any pre-installed app, NDA or no default app system is
used in BharOS.

BharOS uses the Linux kernel. Phones with this operating system
will not have any apps. BharOS mobile will be completely appless. Instead it
will have Private App Store Services or Pass. PASS is a list of apps that have
been thoroughly vetted and meet the organization's specific security standards.
Through this pass, you can download as many apps as you want on BharOS mobile.
BharOS has been launched and tested, but it is not yet known when this
operating system will come to the market.
