Swamiji showed that a thief can also be a great saint
Swamiji had great respect for Paohari Baba. Swamiji heard that once a thief had entered Paohari's Baba's hut. Paohari Baba woke up the moment he escaped after stealing his belongings. Frightened, the thief left his belongings and fled. Paohari Baba ran after the thief with those things and after going far away he caught the thief and returned with the things in his hand. When the Swamiji goes to the Himalayas, he is attracted by a beautiful monk. But Swamiji was surprised when he heard from his mouth that he was the same person who had gone to steal from Paohari's Baba's house. The saint said, "When Paohari Baba gave me everything in the knowledge of Narayana without any hesitation, I realized my own mistake and inferiority and from that I left worldly meaning and started looking for spiritual meaning." This parable struck a chord in Swamiji's mind. Remembering this saint, he later said: The seed of righteousness is hidden even among sinners.
